HI, My Name is Alexander Tristano and I am a senior at Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. For my final end of the year senior capstone project I put together this website to display the work I have done leading up to this final deliverable. I found interest in this project because ever since I was in preschool, I have had an interest in learning sign language. Through my research early on this year, I learned that cochlear implants and other hearing aids were causing controversy in the deaf community. Since I have always had an interest in sign language, I decided to do more research into this controversy. I hope you will find this useful and learn about how Cochlear implants work, as well as get an understanding of the contention in the deaf community and a clash between them and scientific and medical fields.
